Cassidy Guo has joined FenXun Partners, Baker McKenzie’s joint operation platform partner in China, as a partner. Guo bolsters the firm’s bench strength and also paves the way to seize the growing patent work in China.
Guo is a highly regarded IP lawyer specializing in IP litigation and related anti-monopoly and anti-unfair competition litigation. She has significant experience in representing technology companies in IP disputes, including patent infringement and invalidation, trade secrets and software copyright disputes, and related non-contentious matters. Many of the cases she has represented were selected as model cases by provincial courts and the Supreme People’s Court. Before joining FenXun, Guo worked at King & Wood Mallesons and Fangda Partners.
On top of her law and medical degrees from Peking University as well as her JD from Peking University School of Transnational Law, Guo attended Yale for her master’s degree in law. She is admitted to practice in China and has also obtained a patent agent license.
“We are thrilled to have Cassidy on our team,” said Yingzhe Wang, managing partner of FenXun Partners. “China presents abundant opportunity for patent work given the size of the domestic market and also the robust manufacturing and R&D activities in the country. Cassidy’s joining not only helps us deepen our relationships with existing and new clients, but also bolsters our ability to better support clients with their growing IP needs and protection of their valuable IP assets.”
Isabella Liu, head of Baker McKenzie’s IP Practice in China, said: “The experience that Cassidy brings, particularly in patent litigation and invalidation in the areas of computer software, machinery, electronics and communications, complements our regional and global practices well. Her medical background along with her practice experience in the tech sector gives us added depth in the healthcare and life sciences and TMT sectors and further solidifies our market-leading position.”
Guo said: “FenXun and the joint operation it has established with Baker McKenzie offer me the ideal platform to deliver first-class legal services with a combination of Chinese and international law advice. I am excited to be working with my colleagues in China and also across Baker McKenzie's global network as we build and strengthen our IP service offerings and assist our clients with their IP and disputes needs in China.”
