Thailand makes adjustments to various fees
20 February 2025

The Thai Department of Intellectual Property has announced upcoming adjustments to various fees related to international applications. Effective February 1, 2025, these changes will apply to international application fees, international search fees, processing fees and late payment fees. The revisions aim to align international search fees with those set by international search authorities and reflect current exchange rates.
The updated fee structure, detailed in Schedule One of the official announcements, includes modifications to the international application, search and processing fees. Additionally, late payments will incur a 50 percent surcharge on the overdue amount, as stipulated in the Ministerial Regulation. This penalty applies only to the basic international application fee and does not cover additional charges for applications exceeding 30 pages.
Applicants from countries listed in Schedule Two may be eligible for fee reductions, provided they meet the nationality or residency requirements. All multiple applicants must qualify to receive the reduction. Furthermore, those designating the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) as the International Searching Authority may benefit from a lower search fee if they qualify as small or micro entities under U.S. federal regulations.
