On April 28, the Quality Brands Protection Committee (QBPC) released its 2019-2020 Top 10 Cases in IP Protection and Model Cases Bridging Administrative and Judicial IP Enforcement. The Top 10 cases were released as part of the QBPC’s general meeting, which was held online for the first time amid Covid-19 pandemic concerns.
The QBPC is a working committee of the China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment, which operates under the guidance of the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
The noted cases are divided into three major categories: Criminal Intellectual Property Protection Top 10 Cases, Non-criminal Intellectual Property Protection Top 10 Cases and Model Cases Bridging Administrative and Judicial IP enforcement. Winners are are independently nominated by member companies and elected by voting members.
The list, released annually since 2002, recognizes some of the top IP cases in China and is designed to be “a window and a platform for the international community foreign governments and private institutions to understand the development of intellectual property protection in China from an objective point of view,” a QBPC statement says.
This year, 24 cases were elected as QBPC 2019-2020 Top Ten Cases. Starting from May, QBPC will launch a series of articles and online lectures to discuss the selected cases in detail. The list of winning cases is available at the QBPC website.
