Jessica Fei (pictured) has joined the dispute resolution practice at King & Wood Mallesons, where she will be a China- and Hong Kong-based partner. Qualified in both New York and China, Fei has more than 20 years of experience working at international arbitration institutions and international law firms, advising Chinese State-Owned Enterprises, multinationals and major regional corporates in China, Asia, Europe and the US on large-scale international arbitration, litigation and dispute avoidance matters.

Prior to joining the firm, she was a partner at Herbert Smith Freehills, where she advised on disputes covering a wide range of areas from energy, infrastructure and construction to trade, international investment, manufacturing, distribution, and intellectual property matters. She represents clients in China inbound and outbound international arbitrations and litigation matters in both English and Chinese, in particular representing Chinese State Owned Enterprises in their overseas disputes proceedings and international clients in their China-related arbitrations.

Alicia Zhang has been promoted to partner at King & Wood Mallesons. Zhang, who is based in the firm’s Shanghai office, specializes in intellectual property transactions, corporate related cross business, foreign direct investment and M&A. Her experience covers a wide variety of industries, including broadcasting rights licensing, entertainment and game related copyrights licensing, drug patent crossborder licensing, and more. Zhang is familiar with intellectual property transaction legal issues, such as licensing chains, licensing scope, rights protection and commercialization, among others.

In the field of sports, Zhang has served as the leading counsel for a number of landmark crossborder public bidding projects in relation to broadcasting rights including matches involving the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, UEFA Champions League, etc. She has also represented clients in crossborder online video broadcasting cooperation projects, involving cooperation with Universal Television and Columbia Broadcasting. She joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2011.

Weiran Niu has been promoted to partner at King & Wood Mallesons. Niu, who is based in Beijing, specializes in intellectual property, particularly in patent prosecution and litigation matters related to advanced technology such as life sciences, chemicals and pharmaceuticals. Her experience covers a wide range of industries, including life sciences, health industries, pharmaceuticals, material industries, food industries, agricultural technology, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, polymers, and chemical engineering among others.

Niu has been providing patent-related legal services to a large number of international and domestic companies for many years. In addition to handling many patent applications in the fields of life sciences, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, she also has represented several multinational companies in patent invalidation and patent litigation cases. She joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2012.
