Hilda Chan joins RPC in Hong Kong as partner

Hilda Chan has joined RPC as a partner in its Hong Kong office as part of the firm’s Asia corporate practice. Chan brings more than 15 years’ experience advising clients on M&A, private equity, capital markets, restructurings and general corporate matters. She also has a growing tech practice, advising on data privacy, cybersecurity and transactions involving emerging companies. The firm expects her cross-border expertise and long-standing PRC client base will help to re-establish its Mainland China-focused corporate offering.

“Hilda is a welcome addition to the team – commercially minded, collaborative and well-respected in the market,” said Charles Allen, who heads the firm’s Hong Kong office. “Her practice is highly relevant to our strategic ambitions. She adds depth to our Hong Kong corporate capability and reintroduces a dedicated China offering at a time when PRC client activity is regaining momentum.”

Chan joined the firm from Nixon Peabody; she will work closely with Andrew Carpenter in Hong Kong and with Kenneth Leong and Kiat Wee Lau in Singapore to grow the firm’s Asia-wide transactional capability.

“RPC’s reputation for sector expertise and its collaborative culture were key draws for me,” Chan said. “The firm’s Asia platform and cross-office mindset are a strong fit for my clients and for the direction of my practice. I’m looking forward to working with the team to help clients navigate the opportunities and challenges of doing business in and out of China.”

Kenneth Leong, partner in the firm’s Singapore office, added: “At RPC, we see ourselves not just as lawyers but as trusted advisers who take a commercial, pragmatic approach to getting deals done. Hilda’s arrival adds strength to that proposition, particularly in the PRC and tech-focused space.”
