DLA Piper has named Scott Thiel a partner in its Asian intellectual property and technology practice. Thiel, a highly regarded technology practitioner with more than 14 years’ experience, will join the firm’s Hong Kong office from the firms UK IP&T group.
Thiel specializes in outsourcing and complex technology transactions, advising both users and suppliers of IT, and outsourcing services. He provides strategic advice to both public and private sector clients on all aspects of the procurement process. His work often involves high-value, business critical projects for multi-national corporations; his client base includes a number of significant financial services companies.
“Technology and intellectual property requirements are becoming even more important to multinational companies in China, and across Asia as a whole,” said Lance Miller, the firm’s Asia regional managing partner. “Asian companies are increasingly going global and they need to consider the ramifications for their IT and IP as they operate across a greater number of borders.”
