The Qatar Trademark Office is piloting a major digital initiative, introducing an electronic Trademarks Official Gazette and digital certificates of registration.
During this trial period, the office will operate a hybrid system. Some trademark certificates will be issued exclusively in a digital format, while others will continue to be issued as physical documents. This phased approach is intended to ensure a smooth transition for all users as the new processes are tested and refined.
“Qatar’s digital transformation is part of a comprehensive and ongoing national strategy rather than a sudden or isolated initiative,” said Jehad Ali Hasan, CEO of JAH Intellectual Property in Doha. “This effort is deeply embedded in Qatar National Vision 2030 and its Digital Agenda 2030, which collectively aim to foster a knowledge-based economy and significantly enhance efficiency through technological adoption across all sectors. For instance, the establishment of the ‘Smart Government and Digital Excellence Steering Committee’ in March 2025 underscores a heightened governmental commitment to orchestrate and expedite this transformation across various ministries and public entities.”

As part of the digital transformation, the Qatar Trademark Office will see several pivotal changes. The Trademarks Official Gazette, a key publication for announcements of new applications and other trademark actions, will be available electronically, promising quicker information dissemination and reducing reliance on physical copies.
Mohcine Fattah, an IP senior director at the same firm, said that in the coming months and years, Qatar’s digital transformation efforts, particularly within the Trademark Office, are expected to deepen and expand significantly.
“The current ‘trial phase’ for trademark services is anticipated to lead to a full digital implementation where most, if not all, trademark-related processes – including online filing, payment, status tracking, and direct communication – become fully digital. This initiative is a component of a larger national plan to bolster Qatar’s digital infrastructure, positioning the nation as a key regional technology hub,” he said.
