Uzbekistan joins WIPO ALERT platform

Deputy Minister Muzraf Ikramov of Justice of Uzbekistan and Director General Daren Tang of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) joined hands with a memorandum of understanding in joining the WIPO ALERT platform. One of the platform’s objectives is to stop the operations of pirate websites profiting from advertising, compile a list of websites that breach copyrights, and give it to local advertising companies and business people in the platform member nations.

There was also a discussion in opinions on new problems in intellectual property, their fixes and potential future cooperation. While Ikramov offered information on the value of IP in Uzbekistan, such as current trends and developments in this field, including prospects for young people, women and business owners, Tang also expressed his willingness to help Uzbekistan in this endeavour and pointed out the existing state policy on youth, women and entrepreneurs is in line with the goals set forth by WIPO.

To prevent placing advertisements on unsavoury websites, unwittingly supporting copyright infringement and endangering the reputations of their clients’ brands, WIPO ALERT gives advertisers, advertising agencies and ad-tech intermediaries access to aggregated lists of suspected copyright-infringing websites from around the world provided by national agencies. This platform is offered in the following languages: Chinese, English, French, Korean, Russian, Spanish and Portuguese (Brazilian).
