Malaysia launches copyright program

The Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) has launched the Copyright to You (CR2U) program, which aims to expedite the certification and notification of voluntary copyright for the creative industry in Malaysia. Under certain criteria and conditions, the program expedites certification and notification, cutting the three- to six-month processing period to 30 minutes.
In 2023, MyIPO received 6,020 applications for copyright notifications, demonstrating how important it is to acknowledge copyright as a crucial resource in the creative economy.
According to MyIPO chairman YBrs. Ts. Dr. Mohd Zuhan Mohd Zain, MyIPO launched this program as a proactive measure to improve Malaysia’s copyright environment. He said: “We strive to provide more responsive and efficient services to the creative community, in line with the rapid developments in this industry.”
