The First Australian IP Firm To Open Office In China

Spruson & Ferguson has opened a representative office in Shanghai. The firm is the first Australian IP firm to open an office in China.

“This is a landmark occasion for our firm and we are thrilled to be expanding our network of offices in Asia, adding to our Sydney, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur offices,” says David Griffith, managing principal and chair of the group. “China is an important growth area for Spruson & Ferguson. Our Shanghai team has the local knowledge and expertise to offer our clients quality patent services, fully supported by our 300 staff in Singapore and Australia.”

European- and German-qualified patent attorney Oliver Lutze is the firm’s chief representative in Shanghai. Lutze brings with him a wealth of experience, including more than 15 years as senior patent counsel for a German multinational company and more than five years in China leading the IPR function for the same multinational.
