LexOrbis strengthens IP footprint with Chennai expansion

LexOrbis has opened a new office in Chennai. The firm says that this strategic expansion aims to extend the firm’s physical presence and offer intellectual property services to existing clients in the state of Tamil Nadu. The firm also aims to capitalize on the significant increase in IP awareness among small businesses, startups, artisans, and other IP creators in Tier II and III cities in the state.

The new office is situated at Century Centre in Alwarpet. It is headed by patent attorney M. Suthakar and Anand Balagopal, a seasoned client success and relations professional. Balagopal has been part of the LexOrbis team since 2015.

The firm has physical operations at its three metropolitan offices in New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. The thriving business community, supportive infrastructure, and an evident surge in IP awareness in the state drove the decision to expand its presence in Chennai. With this expansion, LexOrbis aims to meet the growing demand for IP protection and support clients in the emerging Tier II and III markets of Tamil Nadu, such as Coimbatore, Salem, Madurai, and Tiruchirappalli.

“We are thrilled to establish our presence in Chennai and continue serving our clients in the region with the same passion and professionalism,” said Manisha Singh, managing partner at the firm. “Chennai not only has a diverse talent pool, the right infrastructure, connectivity, and a thriving economy but also offers the right environment for collaboration with corporations, educational institutions, R&D units, and startups in the region that are constantly engaged in breaking the innovation barriers and developing new intellectual properties.”

Abhai Pandey, a senior partner at LexOrbis, shared his enthusiasm regarding the expansion: “Chennai is a key market for intellectual property services in India, and we are excited to expand our footprint here. We are committed to offering a more localised and personalised approach to our clients' IP needs in this dynamic region and also help nurture young innovators across Tamil Nadu by partnering with ecosystem enablers.”

LexOrbis’ services in Chennai will encompass patent drafting, filing and prosecution; trademark registration and enforcement; copyright registration and enforcement; IP litigation; IP portfolio management; and licensing and transactional services.
