IPOS, SG university offering online IP course for entrepreneurs, business owners

As part of its e-learning initiatives, IPOS International together with the Singapore University of Social Science (SUSS) is offering full complimentary access to a nine-hour online training course for current and aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners.

“Intellectual Property Essentials for Business” will help participants identify valuable IP and intangible assets (IA). It will teach them how to maximize these assets to keep their business resilient post COVID-19 and grow it eventually.

IPOS and SUSS began offering the course on April 13, 2020. It will be available until May 4, 2020 to coincide with Singapore’s COVID-19 “Circuit Breaker” period during which Singaporeans are following specific precautionary measures to curb the transmission of the virus.

“In times of uncertainty, all businesses need to navigate business risks and sharpen their competitive edge. At IPOS International, we believe in the tremendous potential for IP and IA to deliver economic and social benefit. We invite everyone to learn how to recognize and manage these assets to boost business growth and resilience, so that we are poised for success when the global economy emerges from the COVID-19 situation,” said IPOS International managing director Dr Ming Tan in a media release.

The course tackles the fundamentals of IP and IA. Among the topics are IP management, law, brands, technologies, design, creations and data. Participants will engage in practical, applied learning through real-world case studies and quizzes.

“SUSS prides itself in being at the forefront of e-learning, by partnering with institutions like IPOS International to combine both aspects, and present educational content that is adaptive, relevant, effective and forward-thinking. SUSS is honoured to have this opportunity to do our part and share our expertise with the society, especially in this challenging period,” said Associate Professor Lee Wee Leong, director for online learning at SUSS, in the same media release.

To participate in the online course, sign up via https://ipa.unilearn.edu.sg/. Registration may be done any time within the complimentary access period.
