A number of Filipinos and local brands who use their intellectual property assets to make an impact were recognized by the highly sought-after Gawad Yamang Isip (GYI) Awards and other special awards from the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Recognition was extended to more than 40 institutional and individual partners for their contributions to advancing IPOPHL’s initiatives to bolster IP enforcement and protection.
The most distinguished prize in the Philippines, the GYI Awards honour IP owners who have made noteworthy contributions to business, innovation and creativity.
The WIPO’s World Intellectual Property Day theme for this year’s prizes is “IP and SDGS: Building our common future with innovation and creativity.”
“Our GYI 2024 awardees are truly a cut above the rest, especially in the indelible mark they have created on society and for sustainability. We hope, like the GYI awardees before them, they continue to inspire others to contribute to a better society through the lives they lead and through the IPs they made,” said Director General Rowel S. Barba.
