Indonesia, US Train Enforcement Authorities

Indonesia’s Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights (DGIP) collaborated with the United States’ Department of Homeland Security on training Indonesian IP enforcement authorities during the Directorate General of Human Rights Meeting September 11-13, 2013 in Jakarta.
Andrew Conduit, an advocate at SKC Law in Jakarta; James Wuneburger, special agent supervisor of Homeland Security Investigations; and approximately 15 other IP law enforcement officers from the DGIP, police, prosecution, courts and customs authorities attended the meeting.
“We must unite and share knowledge with industry to help combat this growing [infringement] problem. We need to educate the general public about the dangers of counterfeiting especially in the health and safety of such drugs. We need to change the way people view that counterfeiting is a victimless crime, and highlight the problems that harm,” Wuneburger told the trainees.
