04 May 2021
The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) has appointed Murgiana Haq, managing partner at hslegal, and Andy Leck, principal at Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow, to its panel of IP adjudicators. The appointments took effect April 1, 2021, each for a period of two years.
Haq is an advocate and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore and a registered patent agent. Leck has more than 20 years of experience handling contentious and non-contentious matters; his disputes practice includes an active litigation and international arbitration practice, with a focus on complex, cross-border disputes.
IP adjudicators bring diverse experience to the panel, allowing disputing parties the opportunity to have their cases heard by legal experts with valuable commercial, legal and academic expertise and perspectives. Past IP adjudicators have in turn found the experience helpful, as the role allows them to gain insights to better act for their clients, IPOS said in a statement.
Members of the panel who have served one year of their two-year terms include Cheng Pei Feng, senior assistant registrar at the Supreme Court of Singapore; David Llewelyn, professor of Law (Practice), in the School of Law, Singapore Management University; Burton Ong, associate professor in the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore; Adrian Tan, a partner TSMP Law Corporation; and Sheik Umar Bin Mohamed Bagushair, district judge at the State Courts of Singapore.
IP adjudicators rotating off the panel are Jason Chan, director, litigation and enforcement group, Amica Law, and Tony Yeo, managing director at Drew & Napier.
