All set for IP Week @ SG 2024

IP Week @ SG 2024 will take place at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore from August 27 to August 28, 2024, with the theme “Ideas to Assets: Forward Together with IP.”

Edwin Tong SC, Singapore’s minister for culture, community and youth and second minister for law, will be the guest of honour.

IP Week @ SG is one of the global IP community’s major annual events, bringing legal experts, academicians, government and business leaders together to gain and share knowledge, experiences and best practices while allowing opportunities for networking. The forum is organized by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) and is now in its 13th year.

Among the topics that will be tackled under the Business and Legal Tracks are “The Future of IP: Trailblazing or Trailing Tech Disruptions?”, “The Successful Alternative: Dispute Resolution for IP and Tech”,  “The Start-up IP Playbook: What Every Founder Should Know”, “The Crossroads of IP: Man or Machine in the Age of AI?”,The Economics of IP: Costs or Benefits for Businesses and Policymakers?”,The Future Unicorn: The New World of Intangible Asset Finance”, and others.

This year’s roster of speakers and moderators includes Daren Tang, director general of the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO); Rena Lee, chief executive of the IPOS; Etienne Sanz de Acedo, CEO of the International Trademark Association; Ignacio de Castro, director of the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Centre; Andrew Toole, chief economist at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office; Klaus Grabinski, president of the Court of Appeal of the Unified Patent Court; David Llewelyn, professor of law at the Singapore Management University and managing director at David Llewelyn & Co.; Just Wang, associate general counsel for IP and content at Meta; and several more eminent thought leaders.

Also taking centerstage is the 2024 WIPO-IPOS IP for Innovation Awards, which will be held on the opening day of IP Week @ SG. Established in 2013, the annual WIPO-IPOS IP for Innovation Awards give recognition to Singaporean enterprises that successfully used their IP to attain significant business growth. Past winners include Grab, DBS Bank, biotech firm Mirxes and immersive entertainment provider Neon.

Around 4,500 participants from 40 countries are expected to attend IP Week @ SG 2024.
