Hong Kong to host BIP Asia Forum 2024

04 December 2024

Hong Kong is set to host the highly anticipated Business of IP Asia Forum (BIP Asia) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on December 5-6, 2024. Jointly organized by the Hong Kong government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, this premier event will bring together over 2,500 participants from 35 countries and regions, including more than 90 distinguished speakers.

BIP Asia 2024, themed “Reimagining IP for Impact and Growth,” aims to explore the latest developments in the intellectual property world and foster business collaboration opportunities. The forum will feature a diverse lineup of speakers, including Xaysomphet Norasingh, chairman of the ASEAN Working Group on Intellectual Property Cooperation, and Theodora Lau, founder of Unconventional Ventures.

Participants can look forward to discussions on various IP-related topics, networking opportunities and the chance to engage with industry leaders, entrepreneurs and IP professionals. The event will also include a special segment on IPHatch, showcasing the entrepreneurial journeys of past winning startups and highlighting the crucial role of IP in business development.

“I think BIP Asia Forum is very important to show that countries pay more attention to intellectual property protection. BIP Asia Forum is a kind of showcase that Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland or even Asia as a whole is transforming from a manufacturing centre to innovation centre,” said Yi Xiaozhun, former deputy director-general of the World Trade Organization (WTO), on BIP’s website.

Key topics include strategies for using IP to drive business growth, monetizing patents and innovations through technology licensing, and balancing creativity with IP protection in sustainable branding. The forum will also address the challenges posed by emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain and digital media. Additionally, participants will explore evolving global IP trends, effective IP protection strategies for innovative brands and technologies, and the role of IP in fostering economic growth through design and integration.

With its location and support services, Hong Kong is well-positioned to play a significant role in the global IP landscape. BIP Asia continues to be a vital platform for advancing IP awareness and innovation in the region.
