Gurugram firm also promotes seven others in 2022 partnership round.

Remfry & Sagar in Gurugram has announced the elevation of Mohini V. to the firm’s equity partnership. Mohini is a disputes specialist with close to 15 years of experience in litigation. She has counseled clients extensively on trademark infringement, unfair competition, copyright and design infringement and domain name disputes, advising on IP strategy, risk assessment, risk pre-emption and mitigation, pre-litigation issues, litigation lifecycle management, dispute resolution and settlement negotiations. Her understanding of the Indian judicial system and complexities of trial comes from first-hand involvement in a large number of cases litigated before the Supreme Court of India, various High Courts and the Intellectual Property Appellate Board (IPAB).

At the same time, the firm announced that several lawyers have been elevated as retained partners:

Amol Dixit began practicing law in 2002 when he started appearing before the High Court of Delhi and the Supreme Court of India in matters relating to general civil and commercial litigation including arbitrations. He joined the firm in 2007 and ever has become an IP litigation specialist, predominantly handling trademark and copyright disputes across a range of industries. He offers clients expert advice on brand protection measures in India and with his long experience in arbitration also works on both domestic and international commercial arbitrations.

Tanmay Joshihas been with the firm for nearly a decade and advises clients on trademark portfolio development and maintenance strategies. His practice includes prosecution of marks, in India and overseas, encompassing filing, attending to examination reports, and arguing before the Trade Marks Office for acceptance of applications and other issues associated with the registration of marks. He has also conducted several brand auditing and due diligence projects. He helps in developing content on trending trademark issues and his wide-ranging expertise enables him to make valuable contributions on matters of trademark policy. Joshi is registered as a facilitator with the Trade Marks Office for the Government of India’s Start-Up India campaign.

Mahesh R.works with clients across a wide range of technologies, including software, electronics and telecommunications, and mechanical devices and instruments. He provides strategic advice to large corporations and start-up companies in the development of their patent portfolios and assists with freedom to operate searches and analysis. His practice includes patent prosecution, providing infringement and invalidity opinions, conducting patentability/novelty searches, counselling clients on design-around advice and competitive monitoring and analysis as well as assisting with due diligence exercises. He is also a registered patent agent.

Ritam Rawalfocuses his practice on patent protection and has almost a decade’s worth of experience in prosecuting Indian and international patent applications. He prosecutes patent applications in the field of semiconductors, software technologies, communication systems, display devices, security systems, mobile technologies, data systems, weaving technologies, automobile technologies, system analytics, informatics, antenna systems, high speed data transmission, metallurgical coatings, steel manufacturing, machinery and machine parts. Rawal also has expertise in drafting complete/provisional applications and writes opinions with regards to patentability, preparing clearance and the freedom to operate. A registered patent agent, prior to joining Remfry & Sagar, he worked as a junior research fellow at the Goa State Council for Science & Technology.

Sangeeta Savantjoined the firm in 2006 and has over ten years of experience as a trademark practitioner. She specializes in advising clients on the availability, adoption and protection of their brands and also on the growth and sustainability of their trademarks. Savant’s practise areas include trademark prosecution, assignment and licensing. She also represents the firm in application and assignment hearings before various branches of the Trade Marks Office. She has gained extensive experience in strategic management of international IP portfolios and guiding administrative procedures. She is a keen analyst, exceptional multitasker, and recognized for her abilities in liaising with outside law firms, clients and other external agencies.

Devaki Sharma specializes in advising clients from a wide variety of industries on the availability of new brands and whether they can be registered. She also deals in the nascent area of geographical indications in India. Her experience covers strategizing, advising and portfolio management of trademarks and geographical indications from pre-filing through registration. Sharma brings with her diverse, multicultural experiences: she has studied in Scotland and New Zealand and, before she joined the firm in 2010, was working with an IP boutique in Auckland. Her fresh outlook to the evolving area of IP is a key asset for clients.

Vishal Singh is an expert in prosecuting patent applications for electronics, mechanical, communication, computer software and medical device related inventions. He has significant experience in performing Freedom to Operate (FTO) searches to identify others’ patents in the same technology area as the product or service being commercialized. He is also proficient in drafting patent specifications in mechanical and computer technologies for Indian and overseas clients. He is a registered patent agent and appears regularly before the Indian Patent Office.
