Mayer Brown JSM has promoted Hong Kong-based IP lawyer Alan CW Chiu to partner, effective January 1, 2013, as part of 21 promotions worldwide. Chiu advises on a diversified range of contentious and non-contentious intellectual property and information technology matters in both Hong Kong and China. His experience includes handling Norwich Pharmacal application and contempt proceedings in Hong Kong; assisting in defamatory lawsuits for celebrities and various entertainment matters including music and film contracts; advising on computer security, IT compliance and other Internet regulatory issues; and assisting clients in negotiations with China’s State Food and Drug Administration. He also is experienced in antitrust law and is an accredited mediator.
