With an emphasis on protecting intellectual property, Thai authorities have started an awareness campaign to stop the sale and usage of counterfeit goods. On February 6, 2025, the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) hosted an event at Bangkok’s MBK Centre in collaboration with officials from the commercial sector, many government organizations and foreign trading partners. The initiative aims to inform consumers, company owners and vendors about intellectual property rights and the dangers of buying fake goods.

The program is a component of a larger initiative to improve Thailand’s enforcement of intellectual property laws. To raise public awareness and curb the spread of fake products, various activities will be held around the country in February and March. If ignored, authorities caution that Thailand’s listing on the United States Trade Representative’s (USTR) Watch List for inadequate intellectual property protection might jeopardize global trade relations and economic stability.

Thailand’s credibility in international trade is still threatened by intellectual property breaches. Investor trust is impacted by the ongoing availability of fake goods, which may also result in trade partners imposing restrictions. Officials emphasize that enhancing Thailand’s reputation in international trade requires more robust enforcement and public collaboration.

The public is being urged by ISOC to report intellectual property crimes to authorities and to refrain from purchasing or selling counterfeit goods. Strengthening law enforcement operations is thought to need increased attention in seeing and reporting such acts.

Authorities think resolving intellectual property issues will improve Thailand’s standing in international commerce, increase economic stability and promote an equitable corporate climate. The nation’s tourist industry, which depends on upholding high standards for goods and services, is also anticipated to gain from increased enforcement and public awareness.
