Overview

Panisa Suwanmatajarn, managing partner at The Legal in Bangkok, started her working life before earning her postgraduate in intellectual property law from Queen Mary University of London. As a legal officer at the Department of Intellectual Property who looked after all intellectual property matters, including but not limited to trademark, patent and copyright, her day-to-day work was to render legal advice on issues that needed legal opinion. Her other responsibilities also covered preparation of proposed amendment to legislations that the department looks after.

After spending five years working in the civil service, Suwanmatajarn left for private practice by joining a firm that practices all fields of intellectual property and information technology, where she put her experience in the government sector to good use. She was able to use her knowledge in relevant legislation into practice and enhanced the private practice to the next level.

After spending five years in that firm, Suwanmatajarn moved to a larger firm where she enjoyed handling a wider variety of legal matters and developing her own client base and handling her own assignments both in and out bounds in a larger variety of practice areas before setting up The Legal Co., Ltd.
