Overview

Winnie Tham is a director of Amica Law and a leading IP lawyer in Singapore with over three decades of practice. An advocate and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore and a registered patent attorney, she has advised global and regional clients on complex IP strategies, cross-border portfolio management, licensing, audits and due diligence. 

With dual degrees in Science (Pharmacology & Biochemistry) (B.Sc.) and Law (LL.B. Hons), Tham brings strong technical insight to her IP practice, particularly in the life sciences and pharmaceuticals sector. Her IP practice and experience also extend to other industries including technology, retail, fashion, hospitality and food & beverage.

Tham is also active in policy and professional leadership. In 2022, she was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS). She has served as president and council member of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (Singapore Group), chaired INTA’s Harmonization of Trademark Law and Practice Committee, and remains active in AIPPI Singapore’s Executive Committee. Currently, she is the sub-committee chair of INTA’s Geographical Indications Committee and has been appointed to vice chair in the next committee term. She has also played a key role in shaping the next generation of IP professionals through service on examination committees and as a past facilitator with the Singapore Institute of Legal Education.

Her expertise and leadership have earned her consistent recognition in various legal publications. She has been commended on her incisive analysis, pragmatic advice, and ability to handle complex, technical IP challenges.
