Oliver P. Baclay, Jr. practices intellectual property both in the Philippines and in the United States. One of his major intellectual property litigation matters relates to the so-called biggest patent case in the Philippines, which forms part of the US$10 billion global litigation on atorvastatin. He was also a collaborating counsel in a patent infringement case decided by the U.S. International Trade Commission involving patents of mobile phone components manufactured by one of the biggest semiconductor companies based in the Philippines. Owing to his chemistry background, Baclay regularly renders freedom to operate opinions, especially those that relate to blockbuster drugs.
As regards intellectual property licensing, his notable contributions include drafting and reviewing high-profile contracts such as those for the Miss Universe Pageant and the Philippine e-Passport Project.
He is the lead patent attorney for the patent prosecution of several computer network patents in the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, India, China and other jurisdictions.
