Overview

Editha R. Hechanova leads the intellectual law practice of the HECHANOVA Group comprising of Hechanova & Co., Inc. and Hechanova Bugay Vilchez & Andaya-Racadio. Hechanova & Co., Inc. is an intellectual property consulting firm handling trademark and patent prosecution, copyright and domain name registrations, product registration, management, valuation, searches, and other non-contentious aspect of intellectual property, where she is president/CEO. The group’s contentious IP practice is handled by Hechanova Bugay Vilchez & Andaya-Racadio, which specializes in enforcement, litigation, alternative dispute resolution, licensing, corporate, immigration law and taxation, where she is managing partner.

Hechanova graduated magna cum laude from the University of the East with a degree in business administration, major in accounting, and is a certified public accountant. She earned her law degree from Ateneo de Manila University and a certificate in strategic business economics from the University of Asia and the Pacific. In 2025, she became a certified IP valuator having passed the examination and valuation report requirement of the Association for Management & Valuation of Intangibles (AMAVI).

She is the president of the Association of PAQE Professionals, Inc., composed of professionals who passed the IPOPHL’s Patent Agent Qualifying Examination; vice president of the IP Collegium, an organization of IP practitioners from different countries, established by the Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation (JIPII); and co-chair of the INTA Asia-Pacific Global Advisory Council (GAC) for the 2026-2027 term.

She is also an accredited mediator and arbitrator of the IPOPHL and WIPO, and a Court-Annexed Mediator at the Court of Appeals.  She represents the Hechanova Group in various international organizations such as AIPLA, ECTA, FICPI, INTA, JIPA, LES and MARQUES, among others.
