Overview
Enrolled with Bar in 1992, Ranjna Mehta-Dutt is a prominent face of the Indian IP fraternity and leads the life sciences practice of the firm. She is well-versed in the intricacies of patent law and skilled at formulating strategies for developing and managing patent portfolios. Her experience is particularly pronounced in the domain of pharmaceutical, biotech and chemical patents, with a special focus on appeals and contentious matters.
That apart, Ranjna also has significant expertise in filing and prosecuting design applications as well as handling the cancellation of designs. Her experience also extends to the protection of plant varieties and obtaining necessary approvals from the National Biodiversity Authority.
Ranjna lectures often on IP law, writes articles for leading publications and also assists the government with policy making.
Currently, she holds the position of president, Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) - Indian Group. She is also chair of the APAA Committee 'Group Presidents'. Ms. Dutt is also a member of the APAA International Patents Committee and the APAA International Council.
