Overview

Rahul Beruar is the managing partner and co-founder of Beruar & Beruar and leads the firm’s intellectual property practice. With over 22 years of experience, Beruar has advised and offered innovative solutions to his clients spread across industries, including automotive, hospitality, software, publishing, apparel and healthcare, inter alia in strengthening their IP portfolio and pushing for stronger IP management and protection.

Since the beginning of his career in 2002, Beruar has represented the interests of both domestic as well as global industry leaders before all courts across India as well as tribunals such as the Intellectual Property Appellate Board and quasi-judicial authorities, in civil and as well as criminal proceedings. Beruar has been actively involved in the anti-piracy campaign in India and spearheaded several investigations on behalf of software and publishing giants and has been reported as “One of the best copyright lawyer equipped to handle civil as well as criminal enforcement of Copyright” by the Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) IP Handbook.

In addition to IP enforcement, Beruar’s practice focuses on managing IP portfolios for a wide array of clients ranging from Fortune 200 companies to start-ups and entrepreneurs, including patent, trademark and copyright prosecution/procurement, domain name disputes and IP litigation. He has extensive experience in advising clients on brand management as well as assisting them in IP transactions.

Beruar also represents and advices various multi-national entities based outside India on IP issues arising under Indian laws through strong and long-standing associations inculcated during his early days of practice.
