Overview

Devika has been practicing law for nearly three decades and is a trademark specialist. She is a mainstay of the Firm’s trademark department overseeing the acquisition, management and development of key client portfolios – this encompasses conducting availability searches, prosecution and maintenance of trademarks as well as advising IP owners on how to safeguard against usurpation and misuse of rights. Her experience in protecting trademarks is not restricted to India alone – she regularly advises clients on prosecuting marks in numerous jurisdictions worldwide. She is particularly well-acquainted with IP systems and protection mechanisms in the Indian Subcontinent which includes Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar and the Maldives. She has also been advising and helping clients register geographical indications (GIs) ever since the Indian GI statute came into force in 2003 and is the practice lead for GIs at the Firm. A prosecution and strategy expert, she can assist on any kind of trademark and GI issue there is. In recognition of her contributions, she has received several awards and accolades over the years.
