Overview

Anthony Tong has been practicing law since 1990. Anthony is the Managing Partner of Robin Bridge & John Liu (“RBJL”) and partner-in-charge of RBJL’s IP Department. Anthony is also the Managing Director of Robin Bridge & John Liu (Beijing) Intellectual Property Agency Limited in Beijing.

Anthony has a substantial litigation practice in different areas of intellectual property in both Hong Kong and China and extensive experience in managing and maintaining worldwide trade mark portfolios for international and local companies in various fields of industries. In addition, Anthony has also overseen and supervised quite a number of trade mark, copyright and patent litigations in China, the US, Europe and Australia. He regularly advises on clients’ R&D processes and render professional assistance in various areas of intellectual property.

Anthony also has substantial international litigation experience and since 2015 he has been the lead counsel for a Hong Kong listed company in a pan-European litigation involving more than 60 proceedings in 15 European countries. 

Anthony was appointed by the Chief Executive of the HKSAR Government as the Deputy Chairman of the Copyright Tribunal of the Hong Kong Government, and has successfully completed the maximum 6-year term. Anthony has been appointed by the HKIPD as a trainer for their IP Manager Training Program and has delivered seminars on copyright and design rights protection and exploitation.

In 2018, Anthony has been appointed as a member of the Technical Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Brand Development Council. Anthony is at the same time the Honorary Legal Adviser of the Design Council of Hong Kong. He is a fellow member of the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators, a Notary Public and a PRC Appointed Attesting Officer. Anthony has spoken extensively on IP issues on various occasions in Hong Kong, China and around the world, including at the annual meeting of INTA and APAA.
