Overview

Zhilian Su, a senior VP at Zhifan IP Attorneys and a member of the firm’s management committee, leads the firm’s international team with nearly two decades of expertise in intellectual property law. She excels in international prosecution, patent litigation, and consulting, particularly in electrical engineering and telecommunications.

Holding a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in communication engineering from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Su is a renowned Chinese patent attorney with in-depth knowledge of U.S. and European IP laws. She serves as a strategic advisor to major companies like Midea, OPPO/Vivo, BYD, and Tencent, focusing on Standard Essential Patents (SEPs).

Su has been instrumental in landmark patent invalidation cases, such as Ericsson v. Huawei and OPPO v. SHARP, securing over US$5 million in damages for clients in Chinese patent disputes. Her team is currently managing complex patent prosecution and disputes globally.

Su offers expert counsel on IPR, competition issues, and provides opinions on freedom-to-operate, infringement, validity, and patentability. Her active role in the intellectual property community includes serving on the executive council of the Capital Intellectual Property Services Association in Beijing, showcasing her dedication to the field’s advancement.
