Overview

Mitchell Minxuan Liu is qualified to practice as attorney at law and patent agent and capable of providing all-around solutions and strategies for clients. Liu focuses on IP-related legal services, including dispute resolution and non-litigation matters. His clients include domestic and international companies in nearly all industries.

Liu is especially skilled at handling trade secrets and patent litigation involving highly complicated technologies, including electronics, chemistry and 3G/4G/NR SEPs. Benefitting from his prior experience as a patent agent, he invalidates patents that others cannot. He is also one of the pioneers of handling trade secret criminal cases in China.

Liu is the deputy chairman of Intellectual Property Committee of the Shanghai Bar Association, secretary general of the Intellectual Property Association of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, and director of the China Law Association on Science & Technology. Liu is also in the expert pool of the Shanghai Pudong New Area Affiliated Office for Intellectual Property and in the counsel pool of the Shanghai Science and Technology Association Legal Consulting Committee. He is one of the representatives of the 11th and 12th Shanghai Lawyers Congress and was appointed outside counsel of the government (and its CCP committee) of Minhang District, Shanghai.

Liu was awarded Recommended Lawyer in Chambers Asia-Pacific for intellectual property litigation in 2021-2024. He was also awarded Recommended Lawyers by Legal 500 in Asia-Pacific in 2021-2024. Other recognitions include 2016 ALB China Top 15 IP Lawyer, China Excellent IP lawyer Top 50 in 2018-2022, Elitist Volunteer of Shanghai EXPO in 2010 by Shanghai EXPO Executive Board during his tenure as “Legal Adviser on Volunteer Work for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo in China” and “Advanced Lawyers for the Expo” by the Shanghai Bar Association.
