Overview

With over 20 years of professional experience, Chunyu (Helen) Zhao has dedicated herself to the prosecution and litigation of trademark, copyright, and domain name matters since 2004. Before joining Fairsky, she worked with two major intellectual property firms in China, where she gained extensive experience. She excels in resolving trademark disputes through a combination of contentious and non-contentious methods. Zhao has provided IP strategy advice to a diverse range of clients, including state-owned companies, renowned wineries, top internet companies, and entertainment and media companies. Her ability to offer professional, meticulous, high-quality, comprehensive, and customized services has been repeatedly demonstrated in numerous complex cases, earning her the trust, recognition, and praise of her clients.

Zhao obtained her LLM degree at the University of Washington and participated in a research program held by CEIPI of the University of Strasbourg, France. Her diverse background enables her comprehensive understanding of the U.S. and EU legal systems, and also facilitates communication with international clients. She has published many IP-related articles based on her practical experience, and is an active member of INTA, AIPPI, ECTA and CTA. She has been invited to deliver speeches at various seminars and conferences, including the user conference of TM5 (CNIPA, USPTO, EUIPO, JPO, and KIPO), WTR Connect, Japan Super IP EXPO 2022, IPRdaily, LCOUNCIL and other platforms.

Zhao has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Asia IP Experts in China by Asia IP, and is listed on the WTR 1000 List by WTR. In China, she has been selected as a senior trademark attorney in the Trademark Talent Pool of the China Trademark Association (CTA) and as a Beijing Overseas IP Protection and Assistance Expert.
