Yingyu Wang joins Simmons & Simmons as partner

Yingyu Wang has joined Simmons & Simmons in Singapore as a partner in its telecoms, media and intellectual property practice. Wang joined the firm from Taylor Vinters Via; she was named managing director of Taylor Vinters Via after TMT lawyer Bryan Ghow left the firm with a team of lawyers to form Ghows in 2019.

Wang was one of the last local lawyers at Taylor Vinters Via; another lawyer, Anthony Soh, has also been removed from the Taylor Vinters website, and the UK-based law firm only lists locations in London, Cambridge and Oxford on the “Contact Us” page of its website. Local media in Singapore are reporting that Taylor Vinters has exited the market.

Wang specializes in technology transactions, IP, regulatory matters and funding/M&A of technology companies. She is a partner in the firm’s digital business group, where she works closely with companies leveraging on blockchain across various sectors such as social/digital media, games, music, enterprise software and services and commodities. She has also developed a niche in the metaverse and NFT space, drawing from the combination of her experience in the IT and media sectors and her multi-jurisdictional experience in protecting, commercializing and enforcing a variety of IP rights.

“We are most delighted to welcome Ying to the team. With our growing and expanding presence in Singapore, Ying’s deep experience, industry knowledge and strong relationships will certainly strengthen and enhance our capabilities in the TMT and digital business sectors,” said Jek Aun Long, Singapore office head at Simmons & Simmons. “These are quite exciting times for us.”
