The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) recently granted a patent to Ramper, one of the innovation companies under the wings of Vietnamese startup Ninety Eight which funds blockchain enterprises aiming to make Web3 more accessible.
The patent covers the U.S.-based Ramper’s social login innovation that will increase accessibility to Web3 by enabling people to login to Web3 applications more easily using Google, Facebook, X and other social media accounts.
Web3 has potential applications in various industries. However, complex user interfaces and security issues pose roadblocks to greater accessibility and wider adoption of the technology.

“The USPTO's acceptance of patent protection for Ninety Eight’s invention is a very optimistic signal for the development of Web3 technology and the blockchain community,” said Yen Pham, trademark head and senior IP attorney at S&O IP in Ho Chi Minh City. “A technical solution for accessing Web3 applications from popular platforms such as Google, Facebook and X would help tackle the above-mentioned issues as it would greatly simplify the process of accessing these applications, thereby making these more familiar and accessible to general internet users. This would increase the potential of Web3 applications in fields such as finance, supply chain, healthcare, etc., promoting its development and creating more access opportunities for users.”
She added that the patent also affirms the serious investment of Vietnamese startups in the blockchain technology industry. “It contributes to confirming Ninety Eight's desire to reach a global scale and serves as a motivation for other Vietnamese technology startups to continue to develop and succeed like Ninety Eight,” said Pham.
Founded in 2017, Ninety Eight is one of the pioneers in Vietnam’s blockchain scene and is now one of the leaders in the sector. The patent secured by Ramper is one of the first blockchain-related patents from Vietnam.
