Tony O’Malley Has Been Appointed Global Leader Of PwC’s Legal Services Network
31 July 2019
Tony O’Malley, head of PwC’s legal practice in Australia, has been appointed global leader of PwC’s Legal Services Network. In his new role, O’Malley will take the reins of one of the fastest growing businesses in PwC’s network, leading a team of more than 3,600 skilled legal professionals across 98 countries. The appointment took effect on June 1, 2019.
“We are looking to disrupt what is a hyper competitive market by providing a highly differentiated offering, characterized by high quality integrated solutions delivered across a global platform,” O’Malley said. “We are not looking to build a traditional full service legal firm or a stand-alone legal business. The market is well serviced by traditional firms, many of which have more than 150 years of history.”
Since joining PwC Legal in 2014, O’Malley has led a significant growth strategy for the Australian practice, delivering on its ambition to invest in premium legal capability in areas that are aligned with the firm’s traditional offerings.
During this period of rapid growth, more than 30 partners, all from top tier law firms, have been appointed giving the practice strong capability across key areas of corporate, projects, regulatory and workplace law. They are supported by more than 100 lawyers, with the firm now in its fourth year of graduate recruitment.
