Michael Caplan, Cameron Whittfield And Tim Gole Have Joined Gilbert + Tobin

Michael Caplan and Cameron Whittfield, commercial partners specialising in information technology and telecommunications, have joined Gilbert + Tobin to service the firm’s Melbourne client base from its office in that city.
Caplan is a partner in the corporate, communications and technology group, where he practises in all areas of information technology and telecommunications law with a particular emphasis on IT contracting. He has extensive experience in large scale outsourcing projects and complex systems integration projects, including assisting Telstra with all aspects of that company’s IT transformation, including customer care and billing transformation, operational support systems transformation, mediation transformation and enterprise data warehouse transformation.
Whittfield’s principal areas of practice include general information and communications technology law advisory (domestic and international), domestic and international inter-carrier arrangements and regulation, telecommunications transactions and complex, high value commercial arrangements.
Tim Gole, a lawyer who focuses on large and complex TMT transactions in the corporate, communications and technology group has also been promoted to partner. Gole focuses on large, complex information technology and telecommunications matters, such as outsourcing and systems integration arrangements, including recently acting for one of the big four Australian banks in the procurement of a new core banking system, including associated software licensing and systems integration aspects of the transaction. He also has extensive experience in information technology and internet-related matters generally, such as software development, software licensing, and websiterelated agreements.
