INTA Postpones Annual Meeting
15 February 2020
The INTA’s annual meeting, scheduled for April 25 to 29 in Singapore, has been postponed, and the association will look to relocate the event, it was announced today.
According to the statement released, the INTA are “working to reschedule INTA’s Annual Meeting in Singapore until 2022, and will be relocating the 2020 Annual Meeting to a date in May or June and a venue in the United States.”
The decision to move the annual meeting, with only 10 weeks to go before the original opening, comes amid continuing concern about the Covid-19 virus, which originated in Wuhan, China in late 2019. Guidance issued by the Singapore Ministry of Health had asked event organisers to cancel or defer non-essential large-scale events.
A previous conference at the Grand Hyatt in Singapore on January 20 has been linked to cases of Covid 19 spreading to at least three other countries, including the UK, Malaysia and South Korea.
More information on the postponement, and on refunds for attendees, exhibitors and sponsors can be found here: https://www.inta.org/2020Annual/Pages/Home.aspx
The decision “comes after much thoughtful discussion with our internal team and consultation with outside counsel, and in agreement with INTA’s President, Officers, and Counsel. We firmly believe that we are making the most judicious decision, so as not to jeopardize the health and safety of registrants, staff, and the public” the statement went on to say.
“At INTA, we pride ourselves on being a community, and we hope that you understand and support our decision. We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary change in plans has caused you and your organization.”
