Former K&S Partners lawyer launches boutique IP firm, Priya Rao & Associates

Former K&S Partners partner Priya Rao has launched her own firm, Priya Rao & Associates, in Delhi.
“I plan to establish a boutique practice, focusing on intellectual property, information technology and litigation,” says Rao. The law firm was officially launched on January 1, 2021.
Rao is the founder and managing partner of the firm. With more than 23 years of experience, she has advised and represented several Fortune 500 companies in India and internationally. She specializes across IP laws in helping clients with a broad range of legal matters including prosecution and enforcement of trademarks, copyright, geographical indications, and designs.
Rao has also advised several clients and handled matters on e-commerce, cybercrime, and data protection.
While Rao says she is humbled by her experience of working in top-tier law firms, she is excited about the journey that lies ahead as an entrepreneur. “At Priya Rao & Associates, we know how to put together our best minds to collaborate with our clients, with clear focus on the goal achieved in quick turn-around time.”
The firm currently has one other partner, R. Rajalakshmi, who brings with her more than 15 years of experience working in top-tier IP law firms. Rajalakshmi handles both contentious and non-contentious trademark, copyright and GI matters.
The core team also comprises of a trademark agent and a senior litigating counsel. Rao says she is putting together a team of patent agents and attorneys to handle patent prosecution and litigation.
Rao is currently serving as a member of INTA’s Anti-counterfeiting Committee and Rajalakshmi is serving as a member of INTA’s Geographical Indications Committee.
