11 March 2022
Emma Maconick has joined EY Law in Auckland, where she is a partner.
Maconick leads EY Law’s Oceania Data and Technology law team across Australia and New Zealand, focusing on the legal aspects of digital-driven innovation, corporate transactions, law privacy, cyber security, and artificial intelligence. She works primarily with technology and data-intensive businesses.
Maconick was previously a partner at Shearman & Sterling and at King & Spalding in California’s Silicon Valley. “I have had the privilege of serving sophisticated clients in the U.S. and the UK for over 20 years, and it’s clear that one of the greatest opportunities ahead of us will be around how we develop, leverage, manage and dispose of our global digital capabilities. Leading the team that supports clients, governments and communities on that journey in New Zealand and Australia is an exciting challenge that I look forward to.”
Also joining EY Law as a partner is former Bird & Bird corporate lawyer Steve Johns, who handles cross-border M&A transactions and joint ventures across Australia and Asia, concentrating on the tech and services sectors. Johns is based in Sydney.
Globally, EY Law has about 3,500 professionals in more than 80 countries, 2,400 of whom are legal advisors.
