Elyse Adams named partner at Allens in Melbourne

Elyse Adams was one of a dozen lawyers at Allens promoted to the firm’s partnership, effective July 1, 2022.
Adams, who works in the firm’s Melbourne office, specializes in IT and telecoms procurement and outsourcings, cybersecurity, and data protection, as well as corporate and commercial transactions for clients in the technology, media and telecommunications sectors. She is also co-head of the Allens Accelerate practice, the firm’s practice for startups, scaleups and high-growth companies. In this role she advises startups, scaleups, corporates and government around the intersection of innovation and technology, and assists clients on their digital transformation and technology-led innovation activities.
Adams has particular expertise in payment technologies and systems – from traditional payment platforms to disruptive technologies such as blockchain – and co-authored the Allens Blockchain Reaction Report.
The promotions, which include lawyers in the private capital, ESG, energy transition, infrastructure and technology & data sectors, will bring the percentage of female partners to just over 37 percent, exceeding the firm’s gender target set in 2017 of at least 35 percent female partner representation in 2022. The firm has set a new target of at least 40 percent female partner representation in 2025, under its 40:40:20 aim: 40 percent women, 40 percent men and 20 percent any gender (women, men or non-binary persons).
