Dedar Singh Gill sworn in as judge on High Court of Singapore

Dedar Singh Gill was sworn in as a judge on the High Court of Singapore in a ceremony officiated by President Halimah Yacob at the Istana in early August.
Gill’s appointment took effect August 1; it was announced by the Prime Minister’s Office on April 6.
Gill, 61, joined the Supreme Court bench in 2018 when was appointed judicial commissioner of the Supreme Court in August that year. In Singapore, the Supreme Court comprises the High Court and the Court of Appeal.
He was previously the managing director of the intellectual property department at Drew & Napier.
After joining the Supreme Court in 2018, the Chief Justice directed him to manage the intellectual property list of the High Court; Gill also reviewed the intellectual property dispute resolution system in Singapore. He also has experience with contract, tort and negligence matters.
