Dedar Singh Gill Appointed As Judicial Commissioner Of The Supreme Court

Dedar Singh Gill, formerly managing director of the intellectual property department at Drew & Napier, has been appointed as a judicial commissioner of the Supreme Court of Singapore. Gill was appointed to his new position by President Halimah Yacob; the appointment took effect on August 1, 2018, for a period of two years. Gill was known as one of Singapore’s top IP litigators, appearing as counsel before the High Court and Court of Appeal for major corporate clients. He was once the president of Asian Patent Attorneys Association, Singapore Group, and was appointed deputy president of the Copyright Tribunal. With his appointment of the Supreme Court will have a total of 21 judges (including four judges of appeal and the chief justice), six judicial commissioners, four senior judges and 15 international judges.
