BIP: Tencent Values its IP Assets
04 December 2015
HONG KONG – Tencent Holdings, one of the biggest internet companies in China, values its IP assets and is going to invest more in the industry, says Li Fushan, Tencent's patent operations director.
Speaking at the BIP Asia Forum here during a session covering "Sustainable IP Business Models in the Ever-changing World," Li explained how Tencent builds its internal IP team structure, as well as its method of IP operations.
"Tencent sees our clients as the most important value, followed by our staff," Li said. "We manage the IP businesses just like other commodities, in line with applying the same business models."
He believes there are several factors for an IPR business plan: Make market plans, separate the plans into different stages and value the resource and its rate of input-output.
For SMEs, Li says the requirements of customers should be put in the first place. Teamwork, supply-chain management and marketing and sales are contributors that should be valued as well.
