Ashurst has named Anita Cade partner in Sydney

Ashurst has named Anita Cade partner. Cade, based in Sydney, is in the IP, competition and technology group, where she focuses on contentious and non-contentious IP and media law, in the areas of commercialization, licensing, media regulation, sponsorship, advertising and sports law.


Cade’s particular expertise is in complex technology commercialization arrangements and sponsorship
and new media content rights arrangements. She has negotiated or advised on some of Australia’s highest profile sports and television properties, including deals for various Olympic Games including the London 2012 Olympic Games, the AFL, the NRL, V8 Supercars and Australian Idol. She also negotiates technology supply agreements and music, movie, television and other content licences
across new media, including IPTV and social media.

Baker & McKenzie has named Phillipa Murphy a partner in the firm’s dispute resolution and litigation team. She is based in Melbourne. Murphy provides advice to clients across all industries including those involved in the manufacturing and distribution of consumer retail goods, automotive, pharmaceutical, construction and engineering and mining and resources.

TressCox Lawyers has announced it will be merging with Brisbane-based Macrossans Lawyers, effective October 1, 2012. The merger will result in a fully financially integrated partnership between the two firms. Five Macrossans partners, including current chairman of partners Bill Hickey, will join TressCox’s existing three partners based in Brisbane. The full integration of both firms will result in a total partnership of eight in Brisbane and an overall team of approximately 50. Hickey will lead the TressCox Brisbane office.

Robert Finn has been named partner at Davies Collison Cave, where he is a patent attorney. He began his working career in the iron ore industry, spending two and a half years in Tom Price, Western Australia, where he worked as a mechanical engineer. He joined the patent attorney profession in 2000 at a firm in Perth, where he trained and qualified as a patent and trademarks attorney. He then moved to London, where he worked for two and a half years at a firm of European and UK patent attorneys and gained experience in the patent and design systems of Europe and the United Kingdom. Finn is involved in drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications in engineering and related disciplines.

Nik Ramchand, a patent attorney and lawyer at Davies Collison Cave, has been named partner at the firm. Ramchand has a broad practice involving both contentious and non-contentious patent disputes and advice, and includes the drafting and prosecution of patents in the information technology and business method fields, advising on freedom-to-operate, patent infringement and validity in the telecommunications, medical device and software industries. He is also experienced in conducting patent oppositions and litigation involving both the enforcement of patents and challenges to their validity.

Ramon Tozer, a patent attorney at Davies Collison Cave, has been named partner at the firm. Tozer specializes in patent matters relating to polymer science. He has extensive
experience in a diverse range of polymer related technologies, including polymer synthesis and analysis, bio-polymers, biodegradable polymers, polymer (nano) composites, polymer processing, reactive extrusion, emulsion and suspension polymerisation, free radical polymerization, conducting polymers, stimulus responsive polymers, adhesive, paint and packaging technologies and polymerization catalysts. His practice also extends into the fields of organometallic, inorganicand organic chemistry.
