Zigong Named New Pilot IP City

Zigong, the third-largest city in Sichuan Province, has been chosen as China’s new pilot IP city by the State Intellectual Property Office.

According to China Daily, local officials claimed that the city has led the province in IP tasks for a decade. It currently has six state-level and 31 provincial innovation centres as well as 47 national hightech companies. The value generated by local patent commercialization has increased more than Rmb6.6 billion (US$1.1 billion) since 2012.

According to the news service report, Chinese authorities said they will develop a nation-wide IP trading market within the next three years.
