Woodsford Litigation Funding, a global provider of litigation financing solutions for businesses, individuals and law firms, has announced that Franca Ciambella has joined Woodsford in Singapore. Ciambella is trained in law and business in Singapore, Canada and New York and is a member of the Quebec, Canada, Bar as well as the Singapore Law Society. Her legal career of 30 years encompasses 20 years of international private practice, including as the managing partner of the Singapore office of Stikeman Elliott, seven years as general counsel for Asia Pacific for Tyco International and, in 2010, founding the Singapore-based law firm of Consilium Law Corporation.
Her areas of legal expertise are technology law, fintech (payments, financial transactions, blockchain, cryptocurrency), contracts law, corporate and commercial law, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, and foreign investment law.
She also has more than 15 years’ experience as a mediator, most recently being appointed to the United Nations WIPO panel of neutrals.
Ciambella’s appointment is part of the company’s plans to further expand business in Singapore, Hong Kong and the wider Asian region.
“As Singapore, Hong Kong and other jurisdictions across Asia have liberalized their funding regimes, we have seen a significant and continuing increase in the number of requests for funding. Franca’s appointment is further evidence of our hopes and expectations for the region,” said Charlie Morris, Woodsford’s chief investment officer, EMEA & APAC.
