Scott Nonaka has joined Sidley Austin’s Tokyo and San Francisco offices as a partner in its litigation and international arbitration practices. Nonaka, who joined from O’Melveny & Myers, has extensive experience representing Asia-based clients in complex cross-border litigation, international arbitration and internal investigations in Asia and the US. He has represented a broad range of international clients across a number of industries, including technology, financial services and manufacturing.
“Scott’s extensive experience working with a range of US and Asiabased companies will benefit the firm’s growing list of global clients,” says Sharon Flanagan, managing partner of Sidley’s San Francisco office. “His understanding of the Northern California technology industry, coupled with his understanding of the unique challenges that arise when representing Asiabased clients in contentious matters, gives him an informed perspective that will become increasingly valuable to our clients as they expand around the globe.”
Nonaka’s IP and technology experience includes representing a leading internet and technology company in a multi-jurisdictional ICC arbitration and litigation involving IP, licensing and tort claims, and winning multiple favourable awards for a large multi-national Japanese trading company involving trade secret, copyright and contract claims.
