Japan, Cambodia collaborate in creating educational initiatives of IP rights
08 April 2025

Japan and Cambodia will collaborate to create educational initiatives aimed at raising high school and university students’ knowledge of intellectual property rights.
The decision was made in a meeting between Japan’s Tomomi Yoshida, director of the National Centre for Training and Industrial Property Information, and Cambodia’s Soun Vichea, adviser to the Ministry of Commerce, head of the IP department and chief of the secretariat of the National Intellectual Property Management Committee.
The discussion took place at a seminar titled “Promoting Innovation: Intellectual Property and Education,” which was organized by the Ministry of Commerce, the Japan External Trade Organization and the Japan Logic Regulatory Commission.
Senior government and commercial sector leaders attended the conference, which had as its goal promoting IP education to Cambodian universities, businesses, corporations and related institutions.
To improve IP cooperation training, the Cambodian team met with the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) last year under the direction of Cham Nimul, minister of commerce and chairperson of the National Committee for Intellectual Property.
Through the National Intellectual Property Policy 2023-2028 as a roadmap for IP development, Nimul emphasized the National Government’s commitment to further strengthening the protection and implementation of IP rights to encourage the creation and innovation of new goods and services, as well as to ensure a fair and competitive business and investment environment.
