Rouse Has Opened An Office In Yangon
02 December 2013
Rouse has opened an office in Yangon. The office offers filing and prosecution for trademarks, patents, designs, geographical indications and litigation as well as broader portfolio management, commercial work and IP commercialization services such as technology transfer.
“We are uniquely positioned to operate in Myanmar,” says Fabrice Mattei, who will manage the office. “We [have] five ASEAN offices and have been instrumental in working with the Myanmar government to draft IP laws, including the trademark law which is currently before parliament.”
The firm has been active in Myanmar for the past five years and already manages the IP portfolios of more than 50 clients in the market. “Being the first international IP firm in an opening market is a real challenge, but very exciting and presents a great opportunity for us and our clients,” says Mattei.
Moe Mynn Thu joins Mattei in the office. Moe joined Rouse at the beginning of October and brings a combination of experience from practising at a major Myanmar law firm and working as IP and legal in-house counsel at Myanmar Brewery.
