K&L Gates Straits Law, the Singapore office of global law firm K&L Gates, has welcomed Marius Toime and Lucas Nicolet-Serra to the firm’s corporate practice. Toime joined the firm from Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner and will be a partner. Nicolet-Serra joined from Simmons & Simmons and will be a counsel.
For the last 15 years, Toime has advised multinationals and global funds on complex cross-border corporate transactions and projects throughout Southeast Asia and other key Asian markets, especially in the sustainable energy (including renewables), resources and infrastructure sectors. He was once seconded to work at a leading Indonesian law firm, where he helped foreign investors and lenders assess target opportunities and successfully structure, develop and invest in opportunities across a broad range of sectors, including fintech, data centres and real estate.
Nicolet-Serra’s core practice is centered on advising clients on complex commercial arrangements, post-M&A integration strategies, sector-specific regulations, compliance and corporate governance. He has substantial legal, regulatory and policy experience in the TMT and in the health care and life science industries. His specific focus has been advising on digital health, artificial intelligence, blockchain, data privacy, software and app development related issues. Nicolet-Serra worked in Paris for five years and has been working in Singapore since 2018.
“We are excited to have Marius and Lucas join us in Singapore,” said Sreenivasan Narayanan, managing partner of K&L Gates Straits Law. “Their addition to our team will deepen and widen our corporate bench, especially with their extensive experience assisting clients operating in Southeast Asian markets and beyond.”
