Facebook Gets .ir Domain in WIPO Case

Social networking website Facebook has gained control of the Facebook.ir Iranian domain name following a decision by the World Intellectual Property Organisation that it had been registered “in bad faith” by its previous owner, Majid Karimian Ghannad.
Observers note that the Facebook.ir website will be of limited value for Facebook, since access to Facebook has been blocked by the Iranian government, although many users inside and outside Iran presently use a Farsilanguage version of Facebook.
